Understanding Affiliate Marketing SPARE TIME MONEY.....Most of you will see that this means Affiliate Marketing which is primarily done.... on-line, where you can work at home! Many baby boomers that are now reaching retirement age are particularly interested in "independent", easy ways to supplement their retirement incomes. If that's you, OK....BUT Many products DO provide other REAL job opportunities to make money in other "second" or "third" careers besides what's available as an "Affiliate marketer" as you will see. But first, WHAT IS AFFILIATE MARKETING?? Understanding Affiliate Marketing is simple. It is where one promotes or advertises another vendor's products. Why would you do this?? Mostly, it is done for the purpose of collecting the commissions offered by these vendors in return for your efforts in marketing their products as an "affiliate". How does this work? Pretty simple. When you advertise a selected product, you get a link which you place on (is tracked on) your ads that you have placed. Then you get paid directly by the vendors into a central account (usually PayPal or similar one that is setup for you) when a sale is made. It's the easiest to method to start up...and, for this reason alone, it is the most popular. Many, many sites out there offer re-sale features as affiliates (or associates). The pickings are quite endless. Does anyone actually make any money? Like most REAL jobs.... YES, but only if you work hard, use your head and stick to it! Obviously, the "work" involved is to get others to see your ads...and then to make the purchase. Then you get paid Sometimes, you'll see or hear about "Rebates". There are "Rebates" offered to the consumer (by the Affiliate) as an "extra" enticement to make the purchase. Rebates are usually offered on items that have heavy competition in order to improve chances that someone would try the product from your ad. This is often called "Rebate Processing"...in order to make it sound easy and "automatic". But the work is the same. I'm sure you realize that in any web marketing program, you won't get "SOMETHING for NOTHING", so in most cases you will have to spend or INVEST something, to really get something of VALUE!! The idea is to pick something: 1. that You can afford 2. that is Beneficial to You (a product, info or service that you can use to either help make some more money or just for your own enjoyment) 3. that is easy to promote as an affiliate and gives a high commission VENDORS LOVE AFFILIATES !! Why??? SIMPLE again.... Affiliates increase sales (vendors pay you what it would usually cost them in advertising....but, with no risk on their part!!!) A great way for them to meet today's economic hardships. Which is why "AFFILIATE MARKETING" is so fast becoming "the craze" in the Internet business!!! There are some expensive ways to get yourself going quickly....like the "Shop-to-Earn/Shop-to-Earth" membership; and some high-powered Affiliate Networks and Programs you can join..... like the Pepperjam Network. Again, many more out there. Another real popular method that is used is MLM or Multi-Level Marketing. But even that is not necessarily for everyone either......it utilizes other popular marketing theories like "Attraction Marketing" or the term "Magnetic Sponsoring" which Mike Dillard explains in his training courses. There are "Social Networking" programs you can get in with like: YouTube, Twitter, Blogs, Facebook and many, many more.........if you like that sort of "promoting ". This often takes a bit of time to set up and requires even more time in maintaining it (keeping it current and following up). I, personally find a lot of it "Distracting". Reading and posting on relevant FORUMS, however can be quite useful to gain information and still promote your site or product with usually NO COST. .......so, in the end, you will have to evaluate which level of effort you want to give to get YOUR "SPARE TIME MONEY" Whatever you choose....Remember, that it WILL take work (usually more than what will be described to you) AND it will COST you something!! Keep it in within your budget ! But most important of all...... MAKE AN OVERALL STRATEGIC PLAN of what you want to accomplish....and Stick To It!!!
