Should You Buy An HTC Thunderbolt?
The HTC Thunderbolt 4G is an amazing fast and beautifully built device. I love the construction and feel of the device however the phone could be a little better in one way, network coverage. Now I know that this has nothing to do with the device, but the device that one person holds in their hand is at least, in their opinion, a representation of that carriers network.
We hear it all the time, " Carrier SoSo sucks, my phone doesn't get any reception, sound sucks ect," . Well, when the phone company actually paid you to take the phone off their hands that should have been the first clue. A company hell bent on sucking you dry of every last hard earned cent actually gives you a phone of pays you to take it away is probably not a good sign of its quality. But what do you know, as far as most of the general public is concerned cell phones are magic, or at least that's what it seems like every time I talk to a Boost or Metro customer.
The Thunderbolt is a fast and great device but it is first generation 4G handset. It's the first LTE handset to go to Verizon and With less than 200 cities nation wide using LTE, it isn't worth canceling from one carrier to make the move over to Big Red. So when do you want to make the Big Red's LTE network? Three things need to be meet in my opinion. First , the handset has to have a dual core processor, second, the device will need to pull at least a full days worth of use with our assistance from car or wall charger, and lastly you'll want at least 75% of American covered by an LTE network.
Now the last point might have thrown you so let me elaborate a little more. The 4G phone or hotspot is an amazing product but when you travel just out side the city say on your way home from work and your only half way home and you drop into a slow 3G area it's a hard kick of reality that your phone may look cool and say blazing fast 4G on the box but in reality its still a 3G device that occasionally doesn't suck. 4G will really earn its name and respect when 75% of all users can travel to and from work with our ever dropping their 4G reception . These are just a few reason why you should maybe wait to purchase your Verizon Thunderbolt for Verizon.
