Epson WorkForce 845 All-in-One Printer: Review The Epson WorkForce 845 is an all-in-one printer made for large scale printing of documents, photographs, posters and presentations. It is made for workplace use with a variety of functions like printing, scanning copying and for sending fax. Besides, it packs in features like triple connectivity options for printing via Ethernet, Wi-Fi and wired networks. Furthermore, it has features for double-sided printing and an automatic document feeder. Epson has also equipped the Workforce 845 with its Connect Email Print software made for remote printing that works in co-ordination with cloud printing services of Google and Apple. Additionally, there is an app for iPhone and Android devices separately that comes along with it. Let's take a look at its features. Design and features The Workforce 845 looks heavy at first sight but the company has been productive enough to pack in bulk of hardware into a device that weighs 22 pounds. Thus, it isn't very difficult to move around with. It has a panel measuring 13-inch in dimensions which houses a 7.8 inches touch display. There are dedicated buttons for Home, Page Forward, and Page Back along with few more for various menu functions. While working, the buttons are not needed for the particular task and dimmed out so that the user finds it convenient to navigate through the menu with any perplexity. The panel on this new Epson contains two slots for media cards and a PictBridge-compatible USB port on the lower portion which you can use for printing snaps directly from the camera. Epson has also allotted its CreativeZone apps for scanner and driver disc in the packaging. Users can utilize these apps for various photographic tasks like converting photos into collages, greetings cards and so on. These drivers are supported by both Windows 7 and Mac OS. The Wi-Fi configuration on the Epson is also easy to use. It is a two step process which asks you to tap the network settings from the touch display, select your network and key in the password subsequently for securing the network. According to industry tests, the Wi-Fi setup was complete in less than 2 minutes. Once you are connected to a wireless network, you can use the variety of apps offered by Epson. The dedicated apps for iOS and Android devices allow you to print variety of content from the mobile devices to the Epson Workforce 845 directly. Another native app, the Connect Email Print allows users to email a printed matter directly to the selected email address that was fed to the printer. It is fairly easy to use and would be beneficial to people who need to send information remotely from one place to another frequently. The WorkForce 845 comes with four different ink cartridges. It saves your time and money as you do not require purchasing a tricolor cartridge. Performance The performance of the Workforce 845 is commendable, as found in the critical tests. Theprinter gave a decent 12.52 pages per minute (ppm) in the grayscale text speed test. For color printing, the printer achieved 4.55 ppm and 6.73 ppm in the color graphics and slide deck speed tests respectively. According to critics, the WorkForce 845 beats its competitors in terms of print quality and speed, applicable to both text and graphics printing. The output of colors appear vibrant and even the small fonts look vivid. Moreover, it is low on sound when put against other printers in the segment. Whether you print content, scan or send fax, the printer is faintly audible. The Bottomline The Epson WorkForce 845 is an all-purpose printer albeit professional photographers may disagree with it. The printer comes with mobile printing software as well as apps for iOS and Android devices. The performance is noteworthy in terms of both the print quality and speed.
