Ten Ways To Simplify Your Life
Wireless users can do more than stay in touch while on-the-go: they can surf the Internet while away from their computers, watch mobile television, use the camera to capture special moments, share those moments through picture and video messaging and find directions with wireless GPS. There is a multitude of services available on mobile phones that are often overlooked.
Here are 10 tips from Verizon Wireless to help you get the most from the free features on your wireless phone:
• Use Group Lists to send messages quickly and easily by sending the same message to several people at once. Simply create a Group List and add members by selecting mobile phone numbers from your Contacts.
• To save time when sending text messages, choose from already programmed messages stored in your mobile phone, or create a custom message and save it as a Quick Text.
• Keep track of time all over the world with the World Clock on your wireless phone.
• Personalize your handset by changing the display theme of your phone, font style and size. You can also separate your phone from the pack by selecting a cool background photograph or wallpaper, or by using Ringtones or Ringback tones.
• Use the Calculator or the Ez Tip Calculator to help split a restaurant tab or calculate the tip.
• Use your mobile phone as your alarm clock. Some wireless phones have an Alarm Only volume setting, so incoming calls will be silenced but the alarm will still ring normally to wake you up at the appropriate time.
• When you can't use your phone but you need to get in touch, send a text message from your e-mail on your computer. Wireless companies offer services that will deliver a short message (160 characters or less) from a computer to a mobile phone. For example, to send a message to a Verizon Wireless customer from a personal computer, enter the person's mobile number followed by @vtext.com in the "To" field of your e-mail message.
• Use the Calendar and Notepad features on your wireless phone to stay organized and on time. Set up alerts on the Calendar and enter and save short messages (160 characters or less) on the Notepad to serve as a reminder.
• Depending on the phone, you can personalize it with picture or video wallpaper to suit your personality. Use your favorite downloaded picture, or personal photo or video taken with your camera phone, as wallpaper.
• Know who is calling by sight and sound. Picture ID and Ring-tones let you see and hear your friends before you even answer the phone. Give your incoming calls personality by adding a Picture ID to Contacts stored on your phone. You can also designate a Ringtone for people listed in your Contacts so you know who is calling before you even look at the Caller ID.
