Cable TV services do not offer these options or the other options available to satellite subscribers. Satellite service also offers the convenience of service beyond populated areas where cable TV service does not. Most cable TV services only extend so far outside the city limits as they can find subscribers, but if you have a cabin in the mountains, it is highly unlikely that you will be able to acquire cable there. Fortunately for you, satellite service can be maintained almost anywhere in the world where there is a clear sky. The weather can have an effect on your satellite service just as it can have an effect on cable service. Storms or excessively cloudy skies can cause the signal to be lost for a short period of time, but this is typically the extent of your service interruption due to the weather. In addition, some satellite TV services offer satellite radio stations, as well, such as XM and Sirius and will offer you more of these stations depending on what size channel package you choose. Pay per view channels are also popular with satellite subscribers and can be an economical alternative to going to the theater for entertainment.
